9th International Yoga Day

International Yoga Day is celebrated annually on June 21. It was declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, at the request of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The date of June 21 is significant as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares a special significance in many parts of the world.



Yoga is a mind and body practice that originated in India thousands of years ago. It involves a series of postures, breathing exercises, and meditation. Yoga has been shown to have many benefits for physical and mental health, including reducing stress, improving flexibility, and boosting the immune system.


On International Yoga Day, people all over the world come together to practice yoga. There are often large public events held in parks and other public spaces. People of all ages and abilities can participate in yoga, and there are many different styles of yoga to choose from.

International Yoga Day is a great opportunity to learn about yoga and its benefits, and to connect with others who share your interest in this ancient practice.
