Veganism is the New Elitism

Veganism is fast catching up in India. Its is time to become familiar with plant-based product such as tofu, tempeh, peanut curd, cashew cheese, Almond butter, flex eggs, squerkraut, seitan, mock meats, apple honey, vegan chocolates, nutritional yeast and plant-based milks.


Plant based milk such as soya milk, coconut milk, almond milk and oat milk are making inroads in Indian market. At present, the animal-delivered diary product market is worth $ 140 bn in India. The plant-based dairy products are just $21 m and patronised by the elite customers. But the trend in growth of the market share is very encouraging.


Plant based diary products are going to grow at a CAGR of more than 20 % and the sale value will treble in next three years to touch $ 63.9 million by 2024.




Tire 1 and Tire 2 cities are the fast catching up with veganism. There are Vegan cakes and restaurants such as About Vegan (Jaipur), Bodhi Greens (Dharamsala), Carrots (Bengaluru), Earthlings (Mumbai) and Elysian Delights (Gurugram) are doing roaring business.


Vegan cooking classes, Vegan tours, Vegan conferences and Vegan e-tailing (vegandukan.com and veganmall.in) are parts of Indian Elite Life-style.
